About Alan Caddick

Alan is currently Interim Director of Housing and Residential Growth at Manchester City Council. Alan started his local government career in Manchester in 1985, so his career has come full circle. In between his two stints at Manchester, he worked at Oldham Council where he was in charge of Housing Services; Salford Council where he was responsible for the New Deal for Communities programme. 

In 2006, Alan joined Sunderland Council as Head of Housing, where he led on a number of ground-breaking initiatives, most notably the Extra Care Housing Programme which delivered significant numbers of older person’s accommodation and significant capital investment into the city. 

Before returning to Manchester, Alan spent four years as Director of Housing and Communities at Sandwell Council in the West Midlands, where, inter alia, he was responsible for managing the Council’s housing stock and council house new-build programme, which delivered over 600 new units in the time he was there. 

 A passionate Mancunian, Alan is delighted to back in Manchester and leading the Council’s approach to delivering new homes in the city.
